Biography

Dr. Julius G. Johnson is a distinguished Career Foreign Service Officer, whose tireless dedication to international development, Education, Governance and Democracy has left an indelible mark in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Currently on bilateral missions between Africa, the Middle East and Asia, with an ongoing assignment to Beirut, Lebanon, he serves as a beacon of knowledge and expertise in several technical areas within the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Dr. Johnson's journey began with a passion for fostering positive change throughout the world.

As a subject matter expert in several technical areas: Programs, Education, Governance and Health, Dr. Johnson's invaluable contributions to strategic planning and analysis have played a pivotal role in shaping USAID's efforts in the region. His keen understanding of the complex dynamics at play in Africa and his adeptness in diplomacy and intercultural communication have enabled him to build strong partnerships with central, regional, and multilateral organizations on the continent most recently.

Beyond his diplomatic endeavors,
Dr. Johnson wears multiple hats with equal finesse. As an educator, he imparts his vast knowledge and experience to the next generation of leaders and understands the intricacies of effective strategically aligned development programs.

Moreover, he has ventured into entrepreneurship, demonstrating his dedication to finding innovative solutions to societal challenges.

The culmination of his diverse experiences and insights is evident in the establishment of The Newberry Institute, a non-profit organization headquartered in Georgia. Committed to strengthening democracy through community-based activism and civic education, Health & wellness and promoting Interfaith dialogue.
